Default DIY HQI Ballast and stuff

I've done the search stuff and I can't find the answer although I know it's been posted before. What ballast is the hqi 250 and which is the hqi 400 watt. Does the Halogen fixture from Canadian tire fit the 400 DE or just the 250? Can someone link me to the DIY articles on building my own hqi system... Thanks folks,

Doug

"HQI 250" is "ANSI M80".

"HQI 400" is "ANSI SonAgro" (actually a HPS ballast but works on MH).

Here are some PDF's from the advancetransformer.com webpage (Advance makes a lot of HID and other ballasts):

ANSI-M80:

ANSI-SonAgro (there are 3 part #'s, not sure which one is which):

You can look them (and others) up at this page here:

Don't know about the halogen fixture fitting 250's vs. 400's. I actually thought they only held 150's but maybe I'm wrong?

Awesome Tony, thanks for the input. My girlfriend hasn't decided whether she's more comfortable with a 60gallon cube or a 58 gallon 3ft Long. I'm thinking though I'll go with the 400 either way as I plan on doing a lot of SPS.

Thanks again.

Doug
