ballast wiring

can anyone tell me if a m57 ballast can be wired to 220? it say on the side 120/277/347 . will it work on the 277 wiring ?

I'm not sure. They come with different taps, I've seen 208, 240, 277, ..

None of which look like 220 to me. I'm not sure what's up with that. Where exactly does one find 277 volts anyhow?

Electricity is weird

Maybe some electrician can jump in here.

277V is a voltage found in 3 phase. Unless your tanks at work, doubt you'll need the 277 taps.

I thought 377 was 3 phase ... oh never mind, this is completely beyond me. I swear I need to take an electricians course just to understand what you guys are talking about!!

Who is the manufacturer of your ballast....most m57 ballasts you buy should have a 220V tap!!

I am using standard brand ballasts, the taps are 120/277/347

No your only one is 120V

Okay if thats the only taps you have then you can't hook it up to 240.......reason why because those three voltages are all single phase Voltages

120 - residential
277 - Industrial
347 - Commercial

Wondering again where your tank is? If it's in your house (and you're in North America) you would use 120V.

am looking to use 220 for mh lighting and 110 for pumps and heaters, not enough 110 in that end of house
