That tank must weight close to 2 tonns if it's all glass, It must have been built on site.

Wow if you wanted that to be a reef setup you would need probably 10 1000 watt mh lights for it!!

1200 gallons, baby! Is that the king of Calgary SW tanks? Anyone know this tank's history or former glory?

This thing is going to weigh close to 2000 pounds just for the tank!

Awesome RC thread regarding the install of a 10' 1200g beast here.

Good luck to whomever tackles it!

You'd have to cut all the seams and take it out in peices no matter what.

Wow!! I just looked through the RC thread on the 1200g tank install

Whoever takes the Calgary tank has got some serious planning ahead of them. I'd like to tag along on the thread of the person who takes the tank and what they have to do to set it up. Gonna be big bucks for sure

It is probably worth calling "dibs" on it just for the salvage value of the glass and related paraphenelia (pumps, etc). Someone in Calgary could make a pretty penny on this "freebie" if they act quickly. Establishing a tank of that size (or even committing the resources to move it) is not something I'd expect as an impulse decision. A lot of planning.

An aside: when moving a large piece of equipment into a work building a while ago, the engineering solution was to dig a pit, cut a hole (a new, large door, effectively) in the foundation, install the equipment and then re-construct around it. It wasn't as expensive as you'd think. And, comparing to the cost of establishing and running a tank of that size, probably not impossible to consider.

If you didn't salvage the glass, a 4 foot depth tank. Go swim with the fishes.
