joining rocks with rods... what type is good?

Is this the stuff for patching leaking holes in concrete?

I belive they have the same stuff at home depot aqua somthing or other, it says it can be used in ponds so i think it would be fish safe. Ive used it in vivariums with frogs and havent had any problems, but im not worried to much about PH in that case. Seems like a good way to make rocks very secure, but be sure you are happy with your aquscaping before applying that stuff.

Yes it is. Do you plan on having water in the tank when joining the rocks?. It will set-up under water but gets pretty messy. If you need to get the rocks apart, a blow with a hammer will break the bond.

thanks. i plan to build my rock work in stages and add water as each level gets completed. so it will be "dry" until i'm done then i'll add water to cover that level of rock and so on.

That's pretty much how I did mine along with a pvc rack. It helps the bond to wet the rocks when applying the cement. It'll set-up in a matter of minutes.
