Steve: while the overall light is blue - quite typical of 14k, there is a bit of a yellow hue noticeable, almost like throwing a 4000k pc in a fixture with a 03 actinic, light overall is blue, but you get this hint of yellow.

ya sounds like an underpower issue.

Any chance one of you brought in a 20k 175w SE bulb and would want to trade for a 14k 175w SE? (Not the above mentioned DE)

Spoke with greatdel over the weekend also - he'll have more halides at the end of the month.

http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/sho...963#post206963 <- pics under my 14k 175w - the lawnmower blenny pic is a good rendition - but a bit overexposed. Hint of yellow has gone away as the bulbs burned in.

Default Just got a 250 watt DE 20k

Just got a 250 watt DE 20k from gretdel.

Installed it in my 250 watt Hamilton pendant with the old hamilton magnetic ballasts and all I can see is yellow. It is several shades lighter than my 14k hamilton bulb.

I am going to test it out in my other fixture with an electronic ballast tomorrow, but I can say that thus far, I am not at all impressed with this bulb. I will update the post upon further checking into this.

Note, this is not a terribly negative review, just that I had expected more with the reviews I was hearing, seems like you really do get what you pay for?

I got the 20K 250DE as well and installed it with my icecap ballast and I found it to be a bit whiter than my 14K Hamilton....more of a cross between a 10K and a 14K....I didn't complain as like you said you get what you pay for. LOL
