hey there rory.......

if you want to learn to fish there is this new place out here by spruce grove called "U-FISH" same concept as "u-pick" it is on some guys private land so there is no need for a licence and there are no limits on how many fish you take..... the pond is stocked with rainbow and steelhead trout..... the owner supplies everything from rod to reel to tackel ($7) too many ppl looseing hooks. he even supplies bait for fishing off the dock...... the cost is $1 per inch....... i took the kid and wife there yesterday and it only cost me 35 bucks i lost 2 hooks.... oh and if you dont loose ur hook you keep it.... we were there for 2.5 hours and had a blast..... a great place to learn how to cast....... my kid finally learned how to do it yesterday....... we only cought 1 fish in the 2.5 hours we were there but it was fun..... a private group came in when we were leaving and cought like 20 fish in about 15 min....damn there luck!!!!! a great place to learn how to fish!!!!!

I saw that driving back to Edmonton actually, it has a boat with a model of a fisherman out front on the corner?

What are the costs if you bring your own gear, do you know?

Good info, thanks.

I went out to Spring Lake nearbye to there, it is stocked. Got some nibbles, but never set the hook good enough to bring one in.

ya this place is great........ lots of nibbels but like i said i only got one..... should of had more but oh well.... at this place you are pretty much guarenteed to go home with something..... the guy just opened up so he is more or less over stocked right now....... when i went in on saturday to talk to them they figured they had roughly 17000 fish in the pond so you should be able to get something out of that pond.... oh there are carpe in the pond too but it will cost ya $100 if you want to keep it if you get on on the line..... oh ya and it isnt catch and release... so if you land it you must keep it no matter on how big it is.... the size is 10" the smallest in the pond and the only size that i cought...... upto 20" so good size fish........

Too bad they don't charge a fee per hour for catch and release.

he doesnt want dead fish floating in his pond from catch and release...... catchand release isnt always best if not done right of if the hook is enbedded in the gills or something the fish isnt going to make it anyway so it made as well be eaten by somebody....... see i dont like fish but i like fishing..... so the inlaws or my mom get the fish.... i dont keep them myself....
