Drilling holes for huge FOWLR??

If it were me Id go with 2 x 1.5" holes. (1 main and 1 backup)
Keep the turnover in the sump lower and crank up the flow with a CL.

Then run a larger Ampmaster or Sequence pump on a closed loop with multiple returns. Maybe even 2 loops..
