How much does XM cost? I think Sirius is like $15/month? I thought about it, but since I have an mp3/cd player in my vehicle that I'd save a lot of money just ripping my cd collection to mp3 cds. 12 hours of music on one disc, who needs the radio?

I think you can buy the system out so there is no monthly fee. I'm an mp3/CD man myself... My taste in music is too narrow to have all those channels to choose from anyhow.

I think there is allways a monthly fee for the comercial free service, but I could be wrong.

You can still buy them in the states and get all the channels, I think the Canadian versions (good ol crtc) is blocking some channels

I had an XM system which for some reason kept loosing the signal and service. I replaced it with a Sirius. I prepaid the service (after buying the equipment) for a year. It was something like $130.00. Service from Sirius is much better but I actually preferred the channels on XM. Both were American (shhh) systems and tied into their network. Reception north of 60 on the XM was not that great however seems to be pretty consistent with the Sirius. HTH

i have mp3/cd as well, but there amount of music on there is just amazing, stuff they dont even play in canada, i'll always have it now...IMO i think XM is better, i wish they had a few more punk/metal stations, but w.e. hopefully sometime they will add more.

you can pay 450.00 I believe for a life time subscription but it is for the life time of that radio unit, if it breaks and you buy a new one you have to pay again.
