Default 4300K MH bulbs

Anyone run this low a K bulb before? What if I supplimented with actinics? Would I get too much algae, not enough of the right spectrum for corals, etc?

Default bulbs

I had 5,000K bulbs running before when my $ was low and it worked out well. The only problem is every thing looked too yellow and the corals and SPS did not look that great at all.

I don't think you would be able to get enough actinics to make this look anything but yellow. Coral like 6500K for growth but again that is really yellow and IMO looks aweful.

LOL, pee water, YAY!

This would not be for my display tank, but for a coral grow out and frag tank only. Other than looking bad, this would not be detrimental to the tank then?

Depends on what you are growing out. Softies and LPS shouldn't mind. If it is SPS, you may end up with a lot of brown frags which could be harder to sell.

It would be just softies and limited LPS. I am not into SPS, YET.
