From what I know... the best type of star to feed them is the cheapest type. lol

I believe they will eat about 1 starfish per month.

Unless you buy a few starfish to rotate through from a seprate tank, you dont need to worry whick one regenerates the fastest.

And as Psyire said whatever is cheap, as long as it has feet. I believe urchins will do in a pinch too.
