Hey Rich,

Welcome back! The board sure has changed in the last little while.
During the change over some of the user settings were reset so you will have to go into your "User CP" and fix them up. In order to be able to add smilies change your Message Editor interface to Standard or Enhanced. Also don't forget to set the proper time zone..
