You can run a 10gal easy without skimming,it is nice to have one though.It kinda depends on your fish load and how often you want to water change?
Ppl run backpac's on small tanks such as a 10 gal. I gotta try me a remora next,i was going coralife SS,but the overflow problem is a flaw in my eyes. Fishface,even a cheapo skimmer like a prizm,sea clown,ect would do for a 10 gal.
