Default FS: Skimmer -Sold-

Made from 6" PVC. Reaction chamber is about 18-20" high... with a 6" 3.5" diameter acrylic riser tube. There are no flanges on this skimmer. The riser tube was big enough for me to put my entire arm into the reaction chamber to clean. Collection cup is made from 6" pvc, ~6" high and push fits onto the riser tube. Recirculating pump is a knockoff of a Sedra 9000 (the pumps used on some recirculation skimmers like the Euro-Reefs), called a WP4. I've read on RC that the needle wheel from a Sedra 9000 can fit onto this pump without a problem. I haven't done this mod, as the normal impeller was more than enough for my application. All pvc pipe was plumbed into the skimmer via uni-seals. I'd recommend using this skimmer in-sump only.

The skimmer was designed to run directly off of the drain of an aquarium. Bubbles produced by the drain are sucked in by the recirculation pump, chopped up and spit back out through a 45 degree elbow. The recirculation pump can be run either as a dedicated recirculating pump, or to inject extra air into the reaction chamber.

Pictures:

Skimmer without collection cup or pump. The pipe at the top of the skimmer is for a 90 degree elbow that's attached to the tank's drain. Can be easily converted to a water pump fed skimmer.

Skimmer with collection cup and recirculation pump attached.

Recirculation pump. The air injection point is located just before the pump's intake (the white pvc part).

Before air injection was added.

After air injection was added.

A medium sized BTA managed to get through my overflow guard and got sucked into my skimmer. The skimmer was able to skim the whole BTA out fast enough so that none of the inhabitants of the tank felt anything (~50g water volumn), without the need for extra mods (needle wheel, extra air injection, etc.). I'd say this thing could probably skim an aquarium up to around 75-100g if the correct mods were done to it. Looking for $175 OBO. Reasonable offers only please!

Thanks for looking
