My rubbermaid, yes. 5g jugs, no. Just store them in the dark. Before using it, maybe dump it back and forth between a couple of buckets just to aerate it,

No I'm not Brad but here ya go anyways.

If I keep the water around for a bit, I've found I don't have to heat my ruppermaid with a heater, the pump circulating does that fine. If it's a fresh mix to use right away, I toss in a heater. .

Here is what I use, minus the Mag 2 that sits in the middle for filling mix tank, buckets and circulating

Freash on the left, you can see the float switch and it is all run by a timmer so the ro/di unit will run about 1 min every hour through the night till full then the float over rides everything.

And mixed on the right able to mix with a Mag 2 and a heater holder near the upper output. I have held ro/di water up to 2 weeks and salt up to 1 week with no increased readings or illl effects.

20 would be pretty high.. What kind of test kit are you using?
Aquarium Pharmaceuticals I haven't went looked at it if I remember it starts a zero and goes up in increments of 20 up to about 160 /ppm.
I'm at work so thats why I can't check
Ok lets revisit this one my test kit go as 5,10,20,40,80,160....so it was closer to 5 than zero

My make up water has been sitting in a cube jug now since about June 10 ...so 41 days I opened up and tested for nitrate and it tested zero bang on last test almost a month ago gave me a reading around 5. So I reclosed the jug and shook it up and retested and zero again I never did any other tests just the nitrate, one thing I did notice though there was a lot of junk in the bottom like rust flecks some were a good size I filtered it through one of the ol ladys nylons and used it.....i'll see if everything is alive in the morning. I still have about 2 gal left in that jug so I'll leave it another month see what happens

P.S I used the water NOT the nylon
