Lobophora.

Remove the rock now, seriously.

I've been battling the stuff for years and it's not pretty. In all my searches can't find any reference to a fish that will touch it only urchins. Tried a pin cushion and long spine both would eat around it.

To clear it I'm using a dental pick and tweesers but even that's a bit of a bust.

Sure people will post nuitrent control, not saying my tanks ideal but I feed to a minumun, use RO/DI etc. to no effect.

Few posts on Reef Central about the stuff.

What is my recourse of action??? I am thinking of doing a rock scrub.. is this realistic with this stuff? is it hard to control?.
Levels are great. Water changes every two weeks, Skimmer on high output and wet skimming, RO/DI water only...
Whats your thoughts...
Thanks
Rob

If it were me, I'd just take the rock out and frag off the part with the algae, putting the remainder back.

Instead of breaking the rock, wash it with a pressure washer. They do an Amazing job. I just did one of my rocks that was far too overgrown with brown star polyps. Now its a nice clean rock waiting for some coralline growth.

Ask Christy about the success of pressure washing Algae of rocks
