![]() Anyone has experience with this change?
Here is what I will try, I have an old skimmer 4" acrylic about 30" high. It has 2 air diffusers. I would like to change it to a venturi skimmer. The plan is to place a 1 1\2 diameter tube inside the 4" dia. tube. place the water inlet into the 1 1\2 dia tube. This tube will be used as a mixing chamber. I will purchase a venturi (kent if I can find one)and I will add it to a mag drive pump. Anyone know how close to the cup should the 1 1\2 tube be. Any ideas on improving this experiment? |

![]() Hello,
If I understand you correctly, there's no easy answer. This is because the size and height of your inner tube, along with the water/air speed coming in, will have a huge factor on the surface turbulence. This is one of those cases when you really have to experiment and play around with the different settings. |

![]() what you are thinking would give you something along the lines of a seaclone designe if I am understanding this right.
this page has the mods that you need to make a seaclone work good and I think it might give you some ideas on how to set yours up Seaclone Mods Steve |

![]() Welcome to the board Nigel.
AS for the cup height it will be coming down to experimenting. Can you make a drawing of the skimmer? or a pic? I can help you more from there with some suggestions and hints for skimmer construction. |
