I do the same thing! Leave the moon lights on 24/7 to avoid using another timer.

The shimmering light realy is nice to look at also.

I tried using a blue LED for a moon glow effect but the batteries wore out! If you like, try putting it on one side of the tank and angle it downward across to the other side, kind of like a moonset.
