Default clown problem being solved

I have transfered clowns in other tanks on is ready the other one has higher levels of nitrite 0.25 but that is beter thena ammonia .I the old tank that I have over stocked I am left with 5 clowns . does any body have a good sugestion on how to reduce ammonia without changing the water everyday ?

Take out the bio load, increase gallonage, increase surface area for benifical bacteria to grow.
