Heating my tank problems.

Well im running into problems getting my tank up to 78 degrees. With 550watts of heaters and 3 400watt MHs i can only get my temp to 72 degrees, what should i do just keep addin heaters till i hit the right temp. Maybe another 250 watt one?

for my whole system Sean I use
2 x 300Watt Ebo Jagers
2 x 250Watt Tronic

1100W of heaters and they hardly come on but they are there just in case.

On another note my tank room stays between 76deg in the evening and 81 in the day time. This is durring winter of course. Your tank room(with your cold air feed for the furnace is pulling in -30 deg air. BIG DIFFRENCE. With this weather you will have problems.

MORE HEATERS! Oh Don't forget they cost money to run

Yeah that room is the coldest in the house. I guess more heaters it will be. Im not paying the the electricity so ill wait to see if my dad says something

then ill tell him to bad.

Wow my 120 all I have in it is 1 300 watt heater and I could keep the tank at 84 if I wanted

What about your light? They should add some warmth to your tank. You'll be thanking the cool room in the summer though!

I run a pair of titanium 250w heaters in my 170 w/55g sump. No problems. However I have a baseboard heater in the fishroom that keeps the temp decent when the woodstove is not running.

Mine uses pendants, so has an open top also. I would thing 550watts should heat your tank, esp. in the day with the 400w halides on. Is the room that much colder than the rest of the house?

Seems to me it would be easier and cheaper to get a room heater and bring up the air temp and ease the load on your tank heaters.

I was thinking the same thing on the WOW! On my current set up about 300g of water I have one 150 watt heater. I do also have three submersed pumps that must add more heat then I thought. 200g of that water is in my basement that is also chilly.

I have a 300 w heater on my 140 and no temp problems at all.
