Hello

I'd go without any lids but put a mesh on if there is a concern of jumps. Having no lids just look so much better. It also helps on evaporative cooling for those summer days.

My opinion won't be popular with a lot of people but I think all aquariums should have at least mesh (I have had several rimless tanks with mesh tops that look great). IMO is pretty irresponsible to keep tanks open top and have fish die for no reason. The 'hobby' is pretty tough on fish already, no need to make it worse.

Hello

@GreenSpottedPuffer I don't think it's not popular. In fact I was just thinking ... because most people in Asia lives in high story apartments, some of the people put fishing line like fences on the balcony for safety. Well it's actually a steel cable but it looks like thick fishing line from a few feet away. Here is an example.

Anyway for the fish tanks real fishing lines can be used and it should be quite visually acceptable and not too distracting.

Oh yeah, this is common in Brazil high rises also. Either something like this, glass enclosures or some type of netting. Especially for people who have cats.
