![]() I wouldn't overthink the reverse cycle refugium... based on your display schedule I'd just do it 10pm to 6 or 7am.
From what I can tell you want to make a small unobstructed safe passage though the sponge? I do think it'll really help much. If you really want more microfauna in the display, why not remove the sponge completely?

![]() Unfortunately, i cant take the sponge because i use it to block pieces of chaeto from getting into the return section.

![]() Oh I see now.
Maybe a piece of egg near the overflow to your return pump. Or a piece of egg crate warped in some mesh. That's the best I can come up with at the moment.
