Cant go wrong with a Chardonnay, but it can over power food with delicate flavors like say sole or simular white fish. should be fine with anything else you can put to it. this is a dry full flavored white wine and is genteral concidered the "Queen of white wines" for a wine that is a little lighter but made from the same grape try a Chablis. It would go good with your sole type meal as well. another softer but good white wine is a Piesporter so you might want to try that one also.

here are a few wines and a quick description of them.

Chardonnay- full body dry white
Chablis - crisp, dry wine with a medium body
Piesporter - full and fruity body
Gewürztraminer - fruity wine with a distinctive spicy aroma and taste
Liebfraumilch - spicy hint of fruit and a soft, elegant bouquet

Hope this helps.

Steve
