Seaweed clips are cheap (less than $4 usually) & they suction cup onto the side of your tank. Nothing for the fish to accidentally chew on or choke on.

In 3 years of use I have never had a fish "choke or chew" on anything regarding a piece of pvc, fishing line and an elastic. I'm more worried when I see my chevron tang taking big clumps of sand and eating that. Or even better eating the other fish's poop.
