Feeding Algae
I feed my yellow Tang with algae sheets wrapped around some hose that I hold on with rubber bands. I have noticed that some aquarists use string to retrieve. What is safe to use? Thanks

I think fishing line (monofilament) would be pretty safe. That's what I use to dangle my piece of nori-wrapped PVC tubing.

Thanks again Alan, I will give it a try. I did not want to use the wrong stuff.

Seaweed clips are cheap (less than $4 usually) & they suction cup onto the side of your tank. Nothing for the fish to accidentally chew on or choke on.

Don't worry Seahorse_Fanatic, It's safe. |
What could be easier than this? No injury, and no huge strips of nori being torn off by Mr Naso - see him behind the tube doing his Great White Tang thing?

i use to use a long piece of pvc 1/2" and take the clip and tie it on with a few zap straps and then fold up the nori into a roll and clip it on and stick it in
easy as pie.. mike |
The clips SeaHorse_Fanatic noted are made of acrylic. I tossed the suction cups and glued on a U-shaped piece of 1/8" acrylic that hangs the clip over the tank edge. The clips are cleaned and refilled in seconds every morning.

Good idea. I'll modify mine tomorrow so it's less invasive (keep hands dry) .
