that was by far the cheapest quote for 10mm everywhere told me it had to be polished because the flare from cutting would be around a 3/8 and the price was anywhere from 900-500 dollars . I thought 10mm is the best choise its just kinda expensive.

I use 5mm for glass tops. I would NOT trust 6mm to be strong enough for a tank. What's the point of saving money if you won't be able to get a good night's sleep knowing any little bump will cause 50+g of sw to flood your place?

2' cube tanks are about $280 around here. Not rimless though. I would be comfortable taking the trim off one of those tanks though and polishing it up nice.
