I know it's scary to think how deadly our tanks are but all coral's have a certian amout of toxins in them and well ya boiling it the rock in an enclosed area wasn't such a good idea
When I work at a certain popular reef store if I handled zoo's and had any open cuts I would get a metalic taste in my mouth ( ie small dose of posion )
Realize everything in our tanks are defending themselves from outside intruders

SO what ever you do don't drink your skimate :P lol lol lol

Oh and I have been bitten by a 4ft eel and stung by a large Lionfish

Yeah I've heard about this too! Very dangerous.

It's sorta common process for some guys to boil live rock to get rid of nuisance stuff (i.e. aiptasia). So everyone should be careful when doing this, in case there are any other toxic creatures on the live rock!

Great those grow like a weed in my aquarium. I am constantly cutting them of the rock.

The simple rule of thumb is if you have open sores, dont handle them with your bare hands, wear eye protection if you are cutting frags, and wash your hands with soap and water when you are done handling them. This is standard with a lot of corals. What you don't know can make you very sick or worse. There are lots of things this applies too, reef related and non reef related.

I don't need to worry anymore... My Hippo Tang has developed a taste for Zoa's and has devoured hundreds, if not thousands of them. So now all my pretty zoa's are gone.

I have quite a few of those as well. I used to cut them off with scissors and siphon them up, but lately I've been using sodium hydroxide on them and they are pretty much gone now.
