This last week the coral growth has slowed right down, I even had to turn down my calcium reactor a bit. I think its because I shortened the photo period from 10 1/2 hrs to 8 1/2 hours because of the heat and the renos

I'm moving my tale of woe to this thread so I don't mess up Lance's

At some point the sump room started reeking of coral sex (kind of distinctive once you've smelled it once) and the skimmer shut down for 2 days.Unfortunately I wasn't in a position to do any water changes.
A few acros are losing tissue, the monti caps are bleaching and looking decidedly unhappy and the digis are losing their growing tips.
I bought a bucket of salt from Bob today ($80 ) and I will start water changes as soon as the paintings done tomorrow night/wed

I don't think it was the drywalling because it started when we were still tearing out the carpet and wood paneling.
I suspect it was the whole thing combined with the change in light cycle, a/some corals going sexual, the heat, and dust going in the tank.
My Plan of attack right now is to get everything back on a normal schedule and doing 3 or 4 large water changes

Interestingly, I just remembered it was this time a couple of years ago that my purple cap released a massive amount of eggs I wonder if maybe the other caps joined in as well this year and thats why they appear to be suffering the most

If we end up coming later in August to PR, do you want me to bring up some buckets of salt?

It is looking more like, if you want great coral growth and fabulous colour then you have to move to POWELL RIVER.

Marie even on a bad day your tank is one of the BEST.
