![]() I was at AI and noticed they had the large sqare holding tanks made by Hagen and was thinking the same about a salt pond.I think if you built it so it was high enough up from ground level,run-off wouldn't be a problem, and as long as you checked the salinity often, rain would be ok?
The only thing about being outside and our climate, you might want to think about a cooler salt water enviroment, something like you would find in the Atlantic ocean. You would also have to dig it deep and have a good strong airator(sp?).Sounds like a nice project though.

![]() well, like i said, i have done everything else and next yeear want to try something odd. i think your right about the climate though, although we do get 30+ days, we can get very cold at night...also, would the rain pose a HUGE problem?

![]() Sure... your pond would have to be covered, no? And if it were covered, it would add a lot more heat on 30+ days . But, I am not the DIY pond expert so I wouldn't even know where to begin on something like this.
(also, as mentioned.. if it rains and it enters your pond, you have to watch SG)

![]() I don't think you could grow corals up there in Edmonton, but down here in Calgary we certainly get enough sunlight to grow even the hardest SPS.
