Pick the bulkhead first then decide on the hole size ... don't get a hole drilled before having the bulkhead you're going to use. It's a pain to change a hole size after the fact. You can always use bushings to step down the pipe size if it's too big. My advice is go big (1.5") for a drain to the sump.
