Neat idea,

I prefer rubble myself though, the issue I see with plugs, discs, etc. is that there is almost never a flat spot on the rock to correspond with the flatness of the plug.

I would also see them being live as a disadvantage. If it's dead and dry then you know at least 1 side of the mount will be dry when you put the glue on to hold the frag in place.
