Should never be a problem at 82 degrees as that is the average temperature for tropical reefs around the world. If I remember right the range for shallow tropical reefs is 74-86.

My older brother just got back from Mexico where they were counting/monitoring corals for 2 years and also phosphates and temperature. He said there were up to 6 degree changes in one spot within minutes as warm currents passed by.
