Mine will probably hit 84 by tonight and then drops back to 78 by morning

Mine maxed out at 82 F but no problems with the livestock.

When it gets around this temp, I turn off the MH & switch to a reverse photoperiod.

Should never be a problem at 82 degrees as that is the average temperature for tropical reefs around the world. If I remember right the range for shallow tropical reefs is 74-86.

My older brother just got back from Mexico where they were counting/monitoring corals for 2 years and also phosphates and temperature. He said there were up to 6 degree changes in one spot within minutes as warm currents passed by.

I struggle to keep my tanks 80-82 in the summer, but like to have them at 78-79 as I find they do better.

this is my first summer with my tank...and i am struggling to keep it at 80-82 with the hotter temp here...i've added 2 fans blowing directly at the tank and i am thinking of setting up our a/c unit. i am also thinking if i should delay my mh further in the day so that it runs when the weather starts cooling...maybe start at 5pm-11pm? and have my t5ho start at 12pm to 12am?

suggestions? cause i am getting stressed out checking the temp every hr that i am home....
