Looking at the info and graphs provided in that link, the first graph with the clear front, and painted blue back panel, the large portion of ur PAR is from 3/4 back to the front. ![]() Unless you plan on having your corals packed against the back 1/4 of your tank, your not really going to be "loosing" anything significant by painting it. I personally, keep my coral in the front 3/4's of my tanks anyways. Don't forget, they were only using T5's and 150W MH. I think its fair to say most people run 250W MH on most 48" tanks, I really don't think light loss is going to be something to worry about.
