Cheepest place to get mj1200 ph's in city?

At one point I had five MJ1200's and a MJ900 in my 33 running on a wavemaker. Well three 1200's were. As well as my MAG7 return. So I don't know what ya mean about a "Virtual Storm of Current" ;) :D Two MJ1200's is nuttin.. :D

or does most of the current flatten out and distribute nicely

In a pipe we can make predictions. In a tank? nope. Too many factors. It will swirl and twist all over the place. The only way to have calm water is to shut the pumps off.
