Sea Hare odd behavior?

I'v had a Sea Hare for almost a week now, and he's been doing fine up until today, when I walked in from work and found him buried under about an inch of sand. He still has portions of his body poking through the sand. Is this normal? I'm half afraid to investigaste further... thinking he may be dead
