From seeing accidents in my career with the Fire Dept. I would say possibly 60 MPH with that amount of damage.

Thank god no one seriously hurt..

The "yellow tank" is a boiler. And according to the police the load wasn't heavy, they didn't say much but it sounded like a back haul of 2 pallets.

hmm na a boiler isn't to good for a smoker.. to much insulation to clean up

the truck its self with the trailer.. lot of inurtia there, I could see that kinda dammage from 60ish K but who knows.. I got rearended by a blazer when I was driving my mustang in the 80's I was slowing down to about 35K comming up to my turn and he hit me hard enough to speed me back up to 110 and break the back off my seat. it is amazing the amount of dammage there is in some accidents at a relitivly slow speed.

If they said they were doing 60, I'd bet you could safely say they were doing at least 90. Most drivers will under state or underestimate the speed they were doing before an accident.

Just because someone earns a living as a driver, that does not make them a proffessional. Some of the worst drivers on the road are being paid to be out there. I can't even begin to count how many times I've seen drivers of trucks and semis talking on their cell phones while piloting their rig. Not to mention all the other stupid things I've seen them do. Usually the same ones are driving trucks that are seriously lacking in maintenance too.

Not to paint the entire lot with the same brush. Its just the bad ones that always stand out. The many drivers who are professionals go about their work unoticed.
