Professional Drivers or just any for that matter

Well here's what happens when so called "professional drivers" fail to drive with winter road conditions. This happened about a week and a half ago. I got the call that I had
the day off or this could have been me. It was raining around 4 that morning and ended up turning to freezing rain then to snow and cold. The Highways were sheets of glare ice.
The driver of our truck was following two Semi's doing about 35 KM/H,They were all looking for a rest stop or a place to turn off the Highway. The Tractor/Trailer hit our truck from behind,
the people driving said they were doing 60 KM/H...........my question is would there be this much damage at 60 KM/H????? Our drive was fine though shaken and sore, the others(3 of them) 2 were ok the one in the Sleeper was takin to hospital with minor injuries. He had to be cut out of the sleeper.

WOW! Im a driver also (5 ton) and I do my best to keep everyone around me safe. My pet peeve is when other big rig and dump truck drivers fly by me when im on the highway when Im doing 95k. There is alot of unsafe pro (if you can call them that) drivers. Glad to hear your driver is ok

I drive a Tandem 08 Sterling........they are a little gutless but I cruise down the road at 110
slower if its snowing and whatnot and everyday I get rigs blowing by me at 120 to 140.
I can understand if the roads are bare and dry but this is happening during snow, icy conditions, fog and it seems to be getting worse. I was never a wussy driver but when it hits close to home it really makes you step back and think.

That does look like alot of damage for a 30km/h speed differential. The insurance investigators/police will probably be able to estimate speeds from the amount of damage.

Our roads arent as bad in the winter but our drivers are 10X worse

I think that is a fair amount of dammage, most cube vans i have seen do not have much for a rear bumper so the other truck would have just peeled right into it.

I think it all comes down to basic physics too. truck/trailer combo is pushing a lot of weight.

Impact is equal to mass times velocity so it's possible to cause a lot of damage at low speed if the mass is large enough. Best to leave it to the investigators but I'd say it's possible. Not sure it really matters though.

Looks rough though :surprise:

I only drive a 2010 F450 loaded with welding equipment and have never even come close to a ditch. But I was severally rear ended in 2008 buy some dumba**. There are to many bad driver's with a licence out there that is for sure.

Well good thing the boiler wasn't up to pressure  I went past this on my way to Brooks I can't believe no one was seriously hurt it looked alot worse in person.

Wow glad everyone was mostly ok.

Like someone mentioned there isnt exactly much to cubes, but... the truck that hit yours looks mangled. Wow. Usually they dont even take a dent. That does look like more than 25km/h difference but who knows.
