![]() Thick dark red/brown/green turf types are what normally grows from what I've seen.. i dont have one personally but have looked into them a few times.

![]() As long as it isn't black I think it's alright. I've ready a few places that black is rotting green algae. Usually only happens when you don't clean it enough.
