The best pump is the one that is:
1. Silent. 2. Consumes less watts that means it will stay cool. 3. Reliable. So Red Dragon, Eheim. Mag drives are reliable, very reliable but noisy and hot. |

Sedra , Quiet ones...red dragon and ehiem will cost you some cash but the best nuff said. the quiet ones and mags little less expensive and sedras even less expensive....technically you get what you pay for and sometimes you luck out with the cheaper stuff
personally I would buy the red dragon....but I also want a ferrari...same thing |

I recommend the Eheim. Best pump for the money IMO.

I've ran a lot of Danner Mag Drive pumps (currently using 3.5, 5, 7, 9.5, and a 12) and wouldnt recommend them anymore. The impellers have a way of magically breaking, two of my pumps I have to hit to get them to start running and anything above a mag 9.5 is really loud. So my vote is for Eheim and Quiet One as they are the only other two submersibles I've had experience with.
