![]() So.........I'm in a losing battle with an extreme case of Ich. I've got a QT set up now, but there are a few remaining fish in my DT that I just cannot catch.
Is it safe to use Paraguard in the DT? I've got mostly SPS with a bit of LPS, and 5 Crocea Clams. Paraguard isn't Copper based, but Seachem won't call it reef safe. I'm not too worried about the CUC, but it's the clams and the anemone that I'm treasuring. Has anyone tried dosing Paraguard into their DT?

![]() Can you just drain the tank and pick them out? I got almost all my fish like that in a 180...

![]() I wouldnt use paraguard in the dt even if they call it "reef safe". Thats risky business, and I am not talking about Tom Cruise either.

![]() Don't dose paraguard in DT. It has ingredients that can kill your bacterial population. You don't want your tank being cycled again after medication, do you?
![]() Also malachite green (one of the ingredients in paraguard) is toxic to many invertebrates. P.S. I don't like this type of catch-all products. If you are sure its ich, get the fish to a QT and use a product that specializes in curing itch. Last edited by George; 02-22-2012 at 04:46 PM. |

![]() I would not use it with SPS. I lost a few birdnest when I used it in my nano tank. Aiptasia were fine and a few other like brown clove polyp and green star polyp were just fine and most of my micro algae but the birdnest did not make it.

![]() ive used it in a full mixed reef with inverts and that was what i was worried about but to my surprise it hurt nothing.....i didnt have any sps mayby be some hardy stuff like pocci, monti and birds:P
should also say ive only used it once and i doubt i would do it again as i believe there are other ways to treat but at the time it worked for me and the tank i used it on so gl ![]()

![]() Draining the tank isn't really an option. I've got 5 Crocea's that are attached and happy where they are. Draining the tank could leave them out of water for 20-30mins while I catch the fish and then re-fill the tank.

however, I drained my 180, caught all the fish, and filled it again in about 20 minutes. I'm assuming you have a 29g biocube? That should take about 10 minutes, which is fine for anything to be out of water.

![]() This might be my project instead of doing a regular WC in a few days.
Thanks for the advice!
