![]() http://www.thefilterguys.biz/ro_di_systems.htm im just getting ready to order the $135 5 stage 75 gpd (second one down)
now jsut to be clear ive never seen one of these before, but 4 canisters at 10 inches its going to take a bit of space. now im under the impression you can either hook this to a sink or hardpipe it in from the main water line into your house.. is this correct? i would prefer off the main line. my mechanical room backs onto my garage these canisters are all sealed so no dust can get it right? i would prefer it in the mech room but its pretty packed in there garage may have to suffice. does this kit include everything needed to pipe to the main water supply? as in the fitting to the unit apart from a Tee and some o rings? how much waste water does this pump out? i just want to make sure this is right as 5 stage 75 gpd kits in LFS are clsoe to 400 bucks after tax and i am going to drive across border to go get it.. thanks in advance |

![]() Units are sealed and really don't take up that much space (see picture). I've got my in the mechanical room crammed between the furnace and hot water tank. The mechanical room is convenient as easy access to a supply and drain (then really good at least for me as my mechanical room seconds as a my basement fish room).
See no reason couldn't go in garage if it wouldn't freeze. With the kit your looking at, it's basically 3 lines; supply (would be the "Self Piercing Saddle Valve Water Supply Connection" usually for tapping into a copper supply line) waste ("Drain Connection" to join to a waste line), then the output to a container or bladder. If your output goes to a container for storage it's handy to put it through a float valve (so the container doesn't overfill) then also good to have the "AUTO SHUT-OFF" since the unit would continue to waste water until manually shut off. Ratio is around 1:4 (1g filtered to 4g waste) ![]() |

![]() My house is crimped PEX as well but have the piercing valve on the copper supply line between the meter and the PEX manifold.
The better way to do it though would be to either Tee into a PEX line, valve then ro unit, or if you have a spare line on your manifold tie into than. Just need to rent a PEX crimper (just did some PEX runs and minumin was about 10 bucks from HD). The auto shut off at least the one I'm using shuts off the ro feed, if the ro output is closed. Link to diagram of Aquasafe unit (it's the 4 port shuttle valve shown between the prefilters and ro). Have also read of people just hooking up a garden hose timer between the supply line and unit. |

![]() I acctually found a T that slides Over PEX and has tightenable connectors on the ends. All I did was cut the Pex and insert this, tighten and done

![]() I was looking for a new RO unit and went with the Aquasafe one from OA...$200 for the four stage RO/DI.
I had one sent from the states once...$140 for the unit, $40 for shipping and like $25 I think for brokerage fees...not worth it IMO. Its about the same price in the end but more hassle unless you really want that exact unit. Just thought I would mention it. |
