![]() drill away!.....most lr is really quite soft......a regular drill bit for wood will work (if you dont mind sacrificing the bit) or a masonry bit would probably be a better choice....if your worried about it splitting the start small and increase the bit size....

![]() Hammer drill works best, but depends on how dense/hard the rock is.

![]() Dont apply too much pressure when drilling. Porus liverock can break quite easily.

![]() Get a masonry drill bit, and go slow. It shouldn't split. A wood drill bit will work fine, but not as well as a masonry bit. They are very inexpensive at Home Depot.
