drilling live rock

Is it possible to drill live rock or will it split??

drill away!.....most lr is really quite soft......a regular drill bit for wood will work (if you dont mind sacrificing the bit) or a masonry bit would probably be a better choice....if your worried about it splitting the start small and increase the bit size....

Hammer drill works best, but depends on how dense/hard the rock is.

Dont apply too much pressure when drilling. Porus liverock can break quite easily.

Get a masonry drill bit, and go slow. It shouldn't split. A wood drill bit will work fine, but not as well as a masonry bit. They are very inexpensive at Home Depot.
