Due to a good leak in my 20g I will be setting up a 33g (at least a 33g footprint) my PC is not going to cut it so I am going to build a MH I thinking of a single 250w .........BUT I don't know what parts I need I will probably get everything from Bartle & Gibson. I know the cords that I need I have done that before on my 400w. I think I need like a M58 ballast? and mogul socket?.......little help please

Maybe this should be in the DYI........maybe a mod could move please

Murray, you'll need an M58 ballast and that should include a capacitor as well when you buy the ballast. Then you need a ceramic mogul socket, wire merets, misc. wires and possibly a ballast box to put the ballast in. Oh and a bulb and reflector

if you are going 250 watt go with either a pulse start or HQI ballast and then a mogal socket, this will alow you to run any SE 250 watt bulb and by using a SE 250 watt bulb you can get away with one bulb in the middle running front to back. this will give you lower light on the edges for stuff that likes that.

personaly I would go with a M80 ballast and a mogal base. you will need a container for the ballast if you want it to look pretty, some wiring and some sort of holder/mount for your mogal socket.
