If you really want RO/DI you don't have to hard wire your unit. I ran mine on the counter top for about a year. Just tucked it underneath when I wasn't using it.

Vancouver's water is pretty good and you could probably get away with just a DI unit http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/ro...er+Filter.html

I have one you could have $10 (probably needs new resin). Used it for a year and was happy with it.
