do a large water change and brush them with a baby toothbrush imo

Has happen to me alot, it could be a # of thing's, zoapox etc...

I use fluval submersible and rena, but can not see why there would be a problem as long as you know it can be submerged, and that it is the right wattage, so it doesn't over heat too fast or slow.
