I once changed the sponges in my canister filter and my skimmer didn't produce any dry skim mate for months. Something to do with the oily residue on the new sponges, even though I had rinsed them...

I didn't get any algae in my 46 g when I set it up. But then, looking at my log, I cycled the rock in the tank barebottom and did 2 or 3 water changes a week for 2 weeks and then a big water change...

I bought Coralife glass polish/cleaner months ago and never looked back. It works awesome and at $5.95 a bottle you can't go wrong. I spray it right on the glass and I've never had a problem.
