Are Emerald crabs bad?

Do Emerald crabs tend to eat snails and invertebrates? We just bought one and now I am second guessing the purchase.

Why?

Why are you second guessing your purchase?

They only eat algae

according to everything I have read, emerald crabs are considered reef safe.

if they get hungry enough they may eat some polyps but they are mostly reef safe

They are very bad, you should give it to me

fishmaster 02-02-2008 06:25 PM

mine eats more coraline than undesirable algae.

Another Note

My emerald did kill a snail when we first got him.......I'm not quite sure why but he hasn't touched another one since. Funny thing with him is I won't see him for a week, sometimes two and just when I figured he off and died, he shows up just to make me happy!
