Skimmer
Well I have the new skimmer up and running... Looks great! I am a little short on room, so I have to get someting built for auto top off... any suggestions?
The skimmer looks awesome.. not sure on how it is working yet... I will wait until morning to give it a rating! Thanks ro dez and harvey for the u-tube idea, its working amazingly! I would love to post pictures, but the boyfriend says the craftmanship was done quickly not nicely, so I am not permitted :P He is already talking about building me a fish room! I think I may have an addict on my hands *cheer* |
Talk to Harvey about the Auto-Top-Off.
He has been making a number of them lately... |
I am looking at making a shelf in my stand that will hold a two or three gallon container and just use air tubing or something like it for the water to get in to my sump.

Well i had auto top off, its the container size I am worried about.. not even room for a shelf... prolly ony 12 inch diameter... not a pretty thing to be sure =(

Run it straight off the r/0 unit from the basement to a float valve.
No room required, and hook it to a solenoid just in case. des |
Her tank isn't basement plumbed though Dez.

Auto top off
Hooked up my auto top off last night and it works great. Directly from my ro unit to a float valve in my sump. Still need a solenoid though. I drilled through the kitchen cabinet and through the apartment wall  . Lol, I then ran it along the wall to the tank.
Hey Des do you know where I can get a solenoid? Stan |
i have an extra one =)

Soleoid
Do you want to sell it. How much do you want for it ?

Well, lets make sure its a celenoid first..... it has bolts in it and attaches to a cord that you put a pump in.. turns off when the water gets above the doo hickey.. sound right?

This is a solenoid:
http://www.autotopoff.com/products/S/images/S01_JPG.jpg You can pick one up at McMaster-Carr for ~$18. There are 3 versions, 24VAC, 120VAC and 12VDC. The part number for the 120VAC one is 7877K53. |

Mcmaster-Carr is an online store. The solenoid is normally closed, so when you plug it in, the solenoid opens up (thus letting water through). I currently have mine hooked up to a float switch. If the water level in my sump gets too high, it trips the float switch and turns off the power to the solenoid, cutting off the freshwater supply.
