I'm kind of curious too...I see g1's xr30 asking prices for 175-250 each usually.
And for that price...there are other light options available that are a lot newer.

I wonder are they worth spending the cash on?

Is the life span on the LED'S,fans, compnents coming to an end...am I better off to get like a used gen3 instead?

I have a used Radion G1 that I bought a year ago, and I paid $200. I personally like Ecotech products, and own an MP10 as well (bought new), but I probably wouldn't have dropped the $800-$1000CDN to buy a new unit.

Luckily you can still buy replacement parts for the Gen 1, and there are kits to upgrade the Gen 1's to Gen 3 and change to the new TIR lenses etc. The firmware can be updated as well, so you should be able to update to the latest version and connect to Ecosmart live using USB or a Reeflink and program with all the latest features.

I've been pretty happy with mine, but maybe someone else can chime in that has been running the lights since the Gen1's came out and give you a better idea of how many years these lights will run before requiring replacement.

As led's get older it will be interesting to see how they hold up. I had an older generation Maxspect and it really didn't hold up too well. Lucky for me they offered a rebate if I traded it in on a newer system.
